Established in 1983, this fun, upbeat restaurant, located in the heart of Kauai’s popular South Shore, proudly boasts their logo-theme “Right on the Beach, Right on the Price.” Conveniently located across from Poipu Beach Park, the quality of the food and friendly service is a favorite of locals and visitors. Brennecke’s is justifiably famous for its Fresh Island Fish, brought in by local fishermen, char-broiled over Kiawe charcoal. Each entree includes a trip to Brennecke’s full salad bar, or cup of chowder, whole wheat rolls, steamed rice or herb pasta and fresh garden vegetable. Open daily (11 AM–10 PM), the menu features a wide variety of entrees to choose from. Beach House Restaurant
Located on the beach overlooking the Blue Pacific, with a spectacular sunset view, the Beach House Restaurant has been voted “Number One Restaurant on Kauai” by Zagat, honored four times with Hawaii’s distinguished Hale Aina Award, and praised by Susan Spano, Los Angles Times, who wrote “…attended the evening performance of the setting sun on the water front lanai of the Beach House Restaurant, and when the pink disc finally dropped below the horizon, everyone applauded.” Executive Chef Todd Barrett also shows off his artistic flair with a tempting array of appetizers of Shiitake Crusted Mussels, Macadamia Nut Crab Cakes with Papaya Black Bean Salsa and Ginger Berre Blanc, Thai Curry Shrimp and Scallop Wonton, graced with Mango Thai Basil Mint Sauce, and a “Ahi Taster” of Ahi Poke Sushi, Ahi Tostadas, and Ahi Hash Spring Roll. Shrimp Station
If you love shrimp, you will love the Shrimp Station! For a tasty lunch, snack or a to go picnic in Waimea Canyon, be sure to stop by Shrimp Station on Highway 50 for bountiful shrimp treats, just past the Waimea High School athletic field on your left. The Shrimp Station is a casual diner with good servings of shrimp prepared in several ways. The star attraction is their shrimp plates (choice of garlic shrimp, Cajun, Thai, or sweet chili garlic). One of the most popular items here is the Coconut Shrimp (touted as the best on the planet!,) crusted with coconut and deep-fried until golden and crispy, with a side of fries.
